Pottery is the art of earth ware making and is one of the oldest human inventions. The history of Bangladeshi pottery is as ancient as it is illustrious, dating as far back as the Mohenjodaro and Harappa civilizations where earthenware was found after the excavation of Mohasthangarh in Bogra (300 BC). Some 30 years ago, most of Bangladeshi families consumed rice from earthen pots. Also the potteries used to cook that rice was made from earthen materials. For generations, jessore and kustia has been the house of crafts like pottery. Pottery has now become a commercially successful product in Bangladesh. Clay pots are widely available in rural Bangladesh. kumars sell their products at the weekly village bazaars or in roadside stalls. More than 27 families in the community as they Pottery is one of the sources of income but it has come down to an alarming number.
