MrDoak was twice inamed. His first wife, whomhemairried in 1882. was a daughter of tire lateMr George Thompson of Pitmedden. In 1884lie married Miss Maesie, by whom he is sur-vived, and by a family of several daughters anda son, an officer in tho Seaforth liighlanders,who has been twice wounded, j£- <£- I Llll—TRINITY UNITED FREE Trinity Church. The origin of Trinity Church mustbe said to date, like, other churches of thedenomination, from the Disruption of1843. In another sense, however, seeingit can claim the continuous history, itcan be said to date back to 1793. In thatyear there was a vacancy in the EastChurch of the parish of St. Nicholasthrough the death of Rev. Hugh Hay, andthe Town Council, in whom the patronagewas vested, conferred the appointmenton Rev. George Gordon. Many of theparishioners were dissatisfied, both with themode of election and the choice of thepreacher, and they made a vigorous protestagainst the whole proceedings. Theirexpression of opinion was ignored, and theunpopular presentee was duly settled inthe charge. The dissentients, under thecircumstances, felt called upon to secedefrom the congregation, and they appliedto the Presbytery for permission to builda Chapel of Ease for their own use.
