Abouta year and a half after his return hemoved to the farm where he hasbeen ever since. Harry is married andhas two children. He plans to stay onthe farm and hopes some day to ownhis own place. He expressed hisappreciation for what the school haddone for him in helping him adjust tolife as well as giving him some veryhelpful experience in farm work. 6 THE UPLIFT THE UPLIFT HAS INTERESTING HISTORY By W. Boys at Work in Print Shop Recently the school has receivedinquiries from several different sour-ces, concerning the establishment ofthe school magazine, The Uplift,and the part it has played in thelife of the school. In view of theseinquiries and the interest evidencedby other publications on the PenalPress, we have prepared a shorthistory of our school paper. The Uplift had its beginning inthe mind of Mr. James P. Cook, aConcord Editor, who was largelyresponsible for the establishment of the Stonewall Jackson TrainingSchool. Mr. Cook became arousedfor the need of a training centerfor delinquent youth while attendinga session of Superior Court in he saw a thirteen year old boy,charged with stealing $ fromhis foster parents, sentenced to servethree years on the county chain-gang.
