Whether it will be a season of brilliant entertainments will develop later. Joseph Meehan has sufficiently recov- ered from his recent operation to pay a pleasant visit to his friend of many years' standing, John Savage, at Gwynedd, Pa. Visitors to Merion, Pa., report of the clever plant grower, Henry I. Faust, that his poinsettias are—well, each one of them put it so nicely in his own particular way that perhaps I can most clearly cover them all by saying—very, very fine, indeed. Mrs. Stuart H. Miller will once more grace the wholesale district by assist- ing her enterprising husband, taking charge of the books at the store in the newly fitted quarters. The market all last week was dull and spiritless, as is customary just be- fore the Christmas holidays. Shipments were lighter toward the end of last week, especially of mums and roses. Prices of Thanksgiving week were con- sequently fairly well maintained. American Beauties and the best of the new roses sold at last week's prices. The quality of the carnation arrivals is improving daily, but prices
