Early Jewel Tomato CHALK'S EARLY JEWEL. A large, smooth, and the finest flavored extra early bright red Tomato. It is so hardy and vigorous in growth that a very early planting can be made in the open ground. The plants are well furnished with strong healthy foliage which protects the fruits from sun-scald, and enables the plants to perfect an enormous crop. The fruits are very deep through from stem to blossom end, the solid flesh is entirely free from hard core, free from rot and do not crack open in wet weather. Comes highly recommended. Twelve specimens have been exhibited that weighed 16% pounds, and one monster tipping the scale at nearly four pounds. The vines are strong and vigorous, its massive fruits are very free from ridges. The skin is very firm, making it a fine variety for shipping purposes.
