The leaves are closely appressed, awl- shaped, 5 to 10 mm. long, long-pointed, keeled above, concave beneath, somewhat spreading at the apex. The flowers and fruit are very similar to those of the foregoing species. The wood of the Pond cypress is said to be heavier and stronger than that of the Bald cypress. It has been in cultivation for many years, especially in Europe, where it has passed as a native of Asia imder the name of Glyptostrobus pendulus EndUcher.
