Electrocution hazard. Conceptual image of sparks forming around an electrical power socket and a hand that is inserting a plug into the socket. The sparks represent what might happen if there is a fault with the socket or plug. Such faults could include a loose connection, an overloaded socket, damaged insulation on the wiring, and water on the plug or socket. The effects can range from sparks and mild electrical shocks and burns, to fires and major burns and fatal electric shocks. The use of circuit breakers, fuses and earth wires all reduce the hazards associated with electrical power, but it is vital to replace old or damaged equipment, and to keep electrical equipment dry.
