ROYAL AIR FORCE 1939-1945: COASTAL COMMAND - Convoy attack. In April 1943 No 144 Squadron joined with No 404 Squadron RCAF to form a second Beaufighter strike wing, based at Wick. The two units flew their first operation together on 27 April, when they attacked a convoy off Norway. One large merchant ship was hit by at least three torpedoes, one of which is seen exploding in this photograph.
