HOW AN AEROPLANE IS BUILTbe absolutely interchangeable with eachother, and square. Therefore, a small jig-table must be prepared in a manner similarto the fuselage jig-tables. On this set out a centre line lengthwaysof the table, and on this line, at right-anglesto it, set out the centre line of the com-pression spars. Then carefully with agauge mark the centre line on the ends ofeach spar when it is standing on one of itsnarrow sides. Lay the spar on the jig-board and see that the centre lines on thespar and jig-board coincide exactly. Thenclamp them down, and screw hard woodstops on each side to keep them there, taking care not to put the stops in the wayof ribs. Also fix end stops to locate thecompression spars in the centre. Thenvery carefully check the measurements inbetween after having completed the stopsfor holding the spars. The next thing to do is to glue and screwfour pieces of packing under them, namely, two near each end to raise them up off thejig about \ in. This is neces
