David Christie, Sr., married Margaret Cole. He was ason of Andrew Christie, who was born in Orange County,N. His nameis found on a receipt roll of the regiment and on an assign-ment of a land bounty right by members of a class in theregiment dated June 6, 1783. Margaret Cole was a daughter of Samuel Cole, whoserved as First Lieutenant in Colonel Nicolls Regiment,New York Levies, Revolutionary War. His name appearedon a list of officers of the regiment, dated Oct. 4, 1776, whichshows him present for duty, and last appears on a returndated Nov. 7, 1776, on which he is reported on commandat Kings DAVID G. PRESTON. (About 7 years of age). David Christie Preston, the subject of this sketch, at-tended private and public ward schools, including the oldOrchard Street School, in Middletown, New York, until 1871,when he was promoted to Wallkill Academy, graduating fromthe Intermediate Department under Ira L. Case in 1876. Heattended the Senior Department under Miss Frances A. 20 Dean for a couple of years, then went with his father, StephenL., to learn the watchmakers trade.
