This is a ne-w species of hardy Clematis of great beauty and exquisite fragrance. It is a stout upright perennial three feet in height, with very large ternate foliage and whorls of fifteen to twenty porcelain-blue blossoms in the axils of the leaves, which compose a solid mass of flowers three to four inches across. These flowers are almost ex- actly like those of the Hyacinth in form and size while the fragrance resembles that of orange blossoms. It is a very robust grower in any soil, perfectly hardy and seems destined to be universally planted on account of its rare beauty, its delicious fragrance and its great vigor. The species was offered for the first time last year, and landscape gardeners say that its rustic habit and fragrance will make it a plant of great value to them.
