Recently on the AmsterdamAvenue line of the Third Avenue company a car came toa sudden stop, and it was found that a % in. steel cable28 ft. long had in some way slipped through the openingin the street and had become entangled in the plow ofthe car. Some time ago on the Third Avenue line quitea few steel rods fell from a passing truck into the con-.
