KOERNER, Thkouore, a Germ?poet, was born, in 1788, at Dresden; :ited at Leipsic; became a dramatist,and secretary to the management of thecourt theatre at Vienna; entered as a vol-unteer into the Prussian army, in 1812;signalized himself equally by his braveryand his martial songs; obtained a lieuten-ancy as his reward; and fell gloriously atthe battle of Leipsic, in 1813. His workswere published, after his death, with thetitle of The Lvre and the KOSCIUSZKO, THADDEus,a PoKsh general and patriot, was born, in 1746, inLithuania, and was partly educated at theWarsaw military school, where he excelledin mathematics and drawing.
