Dilophosaurus dinosaur, artwork. This dinosaur was one of the first large predatory dinosaurs, living around 190-180 million years ago in the Jurassic Period. The crest on its head, two bony ridges set side by side, may have been used for display. As its jaws were rather weak, it has been suggested that it was a scavenger, rather than an active hunter of prey. It was around 6 metres in length.
