Taken in the evening while on a short River Cruise in the heart of Europe, the historic and welcoming city of Prague. This picture shows the famous Charles Bridge that was commissioned in 1357 and until 1741 was the only crossing over the river Vltava. Charles Bridge in Prague was built for CharlesIV considered to be the greatest bohemian King, it is built of sandstone and is 520 metres long it was built by Peter Parler and originally its only decoration was a simple wooden cross. At the end of the thirty years war the town was saved from the invading Swedish army, when the truce was signed in the middle of the bridge (1648).
