Loch Callater is an upland, freshwater loch lying approximately 5 miles south of Braemar, Scotland.

Scenic autumn view across the glassy calm surface of Loch Callater, five miles of Braemar in the Scottish Highlands, UK. This is the end destination of a lovely walk although it is possible to walk along a bit further. This is a great picnic spot on gravel beach or grassy banks behind. This is a great walking track that takes you all the way to scenic Loch Callater through beautiful rolling hills and heather along the Callater Burn. A popular route for walkers and mountain bikers, also great for families with the promise of a scenic picnic spot at the end. The track is part of an old drove road across to Clova. This walk provide an authentic Scottish Highland experience which Queen Victoria called 'Her dear paradise". Combine this with a visit to the Braemar Gathering Highland Games on the first weekend of September.
