Gilt bronze statue of bodhisattva on lotus seat, Liao dynasty, China, mid 11th century. A gilt bronze bodhisattva, sitting in the meditation posture with one hand raised in the gesture of blessing, on a lotus plinth with some everted petals. The headdress is of characteristic Liao form swept up and over, and the gilding is extensively worn.
