There are seven mail routesin Alaska, for instance, from 200 to 300miles in length, where as much as 1000pounds of mail matter is carried twice week-ly by dog sleds. In some cases 100 hoursis required to cover a mail route, over wliichthe aeroplane could travel in almost as manyminutes, and maintain a more regular serv-ice.
