There are some very high mountains on both sides of theYangtze between De-ge Gonchen and Batang, including thegiants immediately east of the latter; but I have not been ableto distinguish the continuity of particular ranges in thatneighbourhood. It is to be hoped that the heights of the principal mountainsof Kam will soon be ascertained by scientific measurement,the results of which will probably show the existence of somevery high peaks.
