Allergic conjunctivitis. Reddened eyes of a 75 year old female patient with hay fever. Hay fever is a very common allergic response to airborne particles, such as pollen. Allergic conjunctivitis is the inflammation of the conjunctiva, the clear membrane covering the eye. It causes the eyes to become red, watery and sore. Treatment for hay fever is with anti-histamines.
