Energy Efficient Wall Sections, 1996

Wall sections of the Southface Education Center, made of energy-efficient foam core (inside) and recycled wood products (outside), will be demonstrated during the 1996 Summer Olympics. These energy efficient wall sections will be used in the Southface Education Center, constructed as part of the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta, Georgia. The foam-core center will insulate the building and the particle board sheathing is made from recycled wood products. The Southface Education Center will demonstrate energy efficient technologies for buildings and be a permanent legacy to the Atlanta community. The building will be used to teach architects, engineers, and students and help train local building construction workers in the installation of energy efficient building materials and renewable energy products. A prefabricated building, informally a prefab building, is a type of building that consists of several factory-built components or units that are assembled on-site to complete the unit.
