They are better for forcing, more vigorous in growth and pro- duce stronger spikes of bloom, of better sub- stance and are more beautiful. Garden Culture: Bulbs may be planted from the end of September until very severe weather sets In. The beds should be raised a few inches above the surrounding- ground, to prevent lodgments of water, which causes bulbs to rot. Bulbs should be set 6 to 8 Inches apart and 6 to 8 Inches deep. If the soil Is dry at planting time It should be watered and kept moist while the weather permits. Hyaoinths In Pots. Get rich, light soil or Bulb Fibre. If soil, provide drainage. Break oTf any offsets which appear at the base or the bulbs, and, in potting, place each bulb so that its top shall be half an inch below the surface of the soil, and about an inch below the rim of the pot.
