This is a wildlife photograph of what I think is a Thread-Waisted wasp that I saw on a flower in central Florida. This wasp is an ambush hunter.

I was photographing nature near Winter Haven, Florida when I got lucky and captured these Thread-Waisted Wasps on and over flowers. The Thread-Waisted Wasp is an ambush attacker, immobilizing insect prey with a swift venomous sting before burying it’s insect prey in a tunnel with a single egg. When the egg hatches, the larva consumes the immobilized prey in a sequential order, starting with the least important part through the most important part. The Thread-Waisted Wasp larva is an adult by the time the process of eating the prey insect is complete.
