An Ottoman silver-mounted shamshir, circa 1830. Somewhat stained, single-edged, wootz-Damascus blade with (loose) relief-decorated quillons and riveted rhinoceros horn grip scales (grip strap and one pommel rivet missing). Wooden scabbard covered with wire-sewn shagreen leather. The silver mountings, each stamped with a tughra are embossed in relief with floral and arrow bundle decoration.
