Roman Turkish funerary mosaic, 100 - 300 AD, Edesse, Urfa Tuyrkey. Louvre Museum AO 22917. Funerary mosaic of a young women with Aramean inscription. The young women depicted in this fragment has a typical Edessa hairstyle of the era. The tall trapezoidal tiara covered with a veil, which descends to the shoulders. The tunic stripe and his necklace were made by alternating tesserae of black stone and glass paste (blue, orange). The name of the deceased is missing, but that of her father, Aphrahat, has been preserved. Marble and limestine tesserae. Height: cm; Width: cm. Denon Room 181.
