Thesummer of 1899 hespent in the shops ofthe Philadelphia &Reading, Reading, Pa.,and after graduationwent into the shops ofthe Chicago, Burling-ton & Quincy at WestBurlington, Iowa. Afterfour years service withthe Burlington, thegreater part of whichwas spent in shop androundhouse work andon the road, Mr. Averilljoined the staff of theRailway and Engineer-ing Review of Chicago,editorial staff of the. E. A. Averill On January 1, 1906, he joined theAmerican Engineer and RailroadJournal, and on April 1, 1910, became managing editor ofthat publication. On March 1, 1914, he was made en-gineer of operation of the Standard Stoker Company, withwhich company he has been connected until recently. George L. Wall, vice-president and manager of the LimaLocomotive Corporation, has resigned and taken an office atroom 219, Opera House block, Lima, Ohio. H. K. Porter, formerly southern sales agent with office atAtlanta, Ga., for the U. S. Metal & Manufacturing Company,of New York, has accepted a position with the Hyatt RollerBearing Company, of Newark, N. J. Watson H. Linburg, president of the United & Globe Rub-ber Manufacturing Companies, Trenton, N. J., died onJanuary 6.
