She was selected for this award by the 4-H scholarship committee because of her 4-H achievements, academic standing and leadership abilities. Shelly has been a member of the Sangudo 4-H Beef Club since 1977. She has held every office in her club and has been involved in every aspect of the 4-H program. The Hoechst Canada Bursary is awarded to a Shelly Werenka first year student, enrolled in any Alberta university or college, taking a degree or diploma program in agriculture. A number of 4-H scholarships are awarded annually.
