Business increased considerably last week, there being a good demand for almost all stock, but chiefly for chrys- anthemums. There has been a larger numbar of funerals and weddings lately and these, with the social affairs, give the florists plenty to do. Boses and carnations are quite plenti- ful and of good quality. Calendulas are appearing on the market. There are many mum pot plants, also Paper Whites in pans. Vaiions Notes. Theodore Kuebler has opened a store at 420 Fourth street. The opening was Saturday, November 22. He had the store profusely decorated with mums and carnations, also potted mums, be- gonias, Paper Whites and ferns. He gave flowers as souvenirs. His store is on the street where market is held three times a week and thousands of people pass there. Julius Niednagel & Sons are cutting fine large mums, pompons, calendulas and bouvardia. The Wm. Blackman Floral Co. is cut- ting roses, carnations and mums. The store is tastefully decorated with plants and flowers of various kinds at all times. Widter Laut, of this firm's force, has left for a few days' fishing at Footes lake, over on the Wabash river. Earl Zeidler has gone on his annual trip as cook for the hunting crowd which goes each year at this time. They went down into Louisiana for a two weeks' stay. His sons are taking care of the business and say that trade is much bet- ter than it was a week ago. Their mums will soon be gone. Mrs. J. 0. Elspermann completed her rebuilding by the addition of a new workroom with a concrete floor. Her establishment is now in good shape for the season. Wm. Halbrooks & Son have planted their two houses in lettuce. The Evansville Nurseries
