In ancient Welsh folklore prince Llewelyn was out hunting while Gelert, his dog, was at home looking after the princes son. On returning he found his son dead and covered in blood. When he called Gelert, he too was covered in blood so Llewelyn drew his sword and killed his favourite dog. Entering the next bedroom he discovered a dead wolf and worked out, too late that the wolf had killed his son and Gelert had killed the wolf. This tale is told in Welsh schools to indicate that you should not jump to conclusions.
