A woman turns to a man; Famous places and products in the Yamashiro province; Yamashiro Meisho Meibutsu. A woman looks to a man who likes a range for himself, where a letter is on. Both poems on this print speak about love letters (Kesôbumi) that were sold at the start of the new year. The man is probably a seller of this kind of love letters. Since these sellers were Paria, he has covered most of his face. The woman is probably from a high class and wears a special kimono that can cover her face as a kind of veil.
