An early 19th century illustration of the Bird of Paradise plant (Strelitzia reginae) in the Genus Strelitzia and Family Strelitziaceae. Closely related to the banana plant, the bird of paradise plant is named for closely resembling the tropical bird of the same name. This artwork for Robert John Thornton's "The Temple of Flora" in 1807, was printed, for the publisher, by T. Bensley, London, England.
