There have been a large number of weddings, banquets and receptions, at which flowers were used more extensively than at any pre- vious time since the commencement of the war. Flowers still retain high prices, the demand being greater than the supply. Carnations were the mainstay last week and they cleaned up almost as soon as they were cut. Eoses were plentiful only in long grades, short roses being practically off the market. The longer grades were beautiful stock and sold well. Violets, Paper Whites and stevia were plentiful. Various Notes. C. F. Edgar, of the McCaJlum Co., Pittsburgh, Pa., was a visitor to Duluth last week. The Duluth Floral Co. had the bou- quets for the Swift wedding. The bride's bouquet was made of valley and cat- tleyas; the maids carried Killameys. J. a. S. CT. PAUL, MINN. Two fires caused heavy losses to green- houses in this city Sunday, January 18. A fire of unknown origin damaged the range of Andrew Lauritsen, Churchill anrd Van Slyke avenues, to the extent of $2,500. Frank Gustafson, proprietor odt the St. Paul Floral Co., Front and St. AlKans streets, estimates that his loss from the fire that occurred there is about $1,000.
