Ribo- nuclease is an enzyme involved in the breakdown or hydrolysis of RNA (mRNA) in the cell by breaking its phosphodiester bonds. RNA is involved in protein synthesis in all living cells. Enzymes are biological catalysts, proteins that speed up the rates of reactions within cells.
