A shop manager fills a small quantity of pure colour pigment using a small spoon into a small jar in her art shop in Venice, in the Venetian region of northern Italy. The shop specializes in a huge range of coloured pigments, and are supplied in plastic bags too. The pigment can be used in oil, acrylic and watercolour painting, depending on the type of resin added. Venetian-born oil painting artist, Giovanni Bellini (1430 – 1516) has been called the ‘Father of Venetian painting’ starting from the Early Renaissance period using a few basic colours
