Something That Did Blow Over, Thomas Nast's triumphant comment on election results which destroyed Tammany Hall. The mayor is shown clinging to the remnants of the building. The rotund gentleman in the center is William Marcy Tweed, known as Boss Tweed, one of the most corrupt politicians of the 1870s. Tammany Hall refers to the Tammany Society of New York City, which played a major role in New York City politics.
