Road marker memorial in Sainte Marie du Mont honouring American soldier killed in action after D-Day landings

Inland road from Utah Beach named in honor of 43 men who were attached or under the command of 1st Engineer Special Brigade who were killed during the Normandy Campaign June - August 1944. It commeroates Private Serge Danel, or Serge Djeniladze, a Ukraine immigrant who moved to the USA in 1923. Shot by friendly-fire in Carentan on 9 June 1944.
