Scales radiately striated, 33-36 gEp, 3-4 between lateral line and ventral, 14 round caudal peduncle. Brownish above, silvery white beneath ; a dark streak on each side, from above the origin of the lateral line to a round black spot at the root of the caudal. Total length 95 millim. Afr. Austr. p. 59 (1861), from the Kuruman River (Orange River System), is perhaps allied to B. trevelyani, as it is described as having a single pair of barbels, a strong spine to the dorsal, large scales, and a black spot at root of caudal.
