On Beh-ring Island Stejneger obtained young specimens asthey were migrating in autumn, but it does not ap-pear to travel southward along our coasts. Theywere very shy, mostly single, no large flocks havingbeen seen. In appearance this species resembles thePectoral Sandpiper, but has never the streaked breastso conspicuous on the latter, and the top of the head ismore reddish. TRINGA ACUMINATA.
