The Gateway to the South. Last week's market proved to be a good one The supply was fair, while a good demand for most of the various kinds of stock offered kept the market pretty well cleaned up the larger part of the week Shipping business was good, particularly in ferns and hanging baskets. The supply of roses continues good and all sell nicely American Beauties have been cleaning up regularly. The carnation cut is a little larger than it was, but all of the receipts are taken up each day. The better grade of stock is bringing quite good prices. The Easter lily supply is still too large for requirements, and as a result prices are not high. The oversupply, however, is no longer large. Some fine callas are coming into the wholesale houses. Both valley and orchids are in large supply, but have only an ordinary call. The sweet pea cut is not large and is rather indifferent in quality. Some good peo- nies are to be had. Other offerings are stocks, pansies and iris. The supply of greens is large and adequate. Southern ferns are enjoying a good call. Various Notes. C. E. Critchell reports that he is al- ready receiving many orders for peo- nies and jasmines for Memorial day. The Cincinnati Cut Flower Exchange has been receiving large quantities of fine valley. L. H. Kyrk received the first of the season's cornflowers from Geo. Klot- ter the first part of last week. Recent visitors .were Milton Alex- an
