It con-sists of two symmetrical hemispheres joined together bya central constricted commissural portion. The uppersurface is flattened, slightly convex, and presents- twolobes,—a large anterior, the quadrate, and a narrowerportion, the semilunar. Along the median line is thetransverse commissure called the superior vermiformprocess, which begins at the anterior notch and termi-nates at the posterior notch of the cerebellum. Threeslight eminences along the superior vermiform process. Fig. 133.—The Cerebelltjm, Inferior Surface. have received names. They are the central, anterior, andposterior lobes. The inferior surface of the cerebellumis irregular and uneven. Each hemisphere presents fourlobes,—the tonsillar, digastric, slender, and posterior in-ferior. The inferior vermiform process is depressed, andpresents from behind forward the short commissure, the pyramid, the uvula, the nodule, and arching outwardfrom each side of the nodule is a lamina of white mattercalled tlie velum. At eacli extremity of the velum is theflocculus,—a group of miniature convolutions. The THE SPINAL COHD. 303 3Ncll
