Equestrian tomb relief, Xanthos.


Detail of the Xanthos equestrian freize showing a pair of horses hitched to a chariot. This processional frieze together with other tomb reliefs were found at the acropolis of Xanthos in Lycia, Turkey. Horses have a saddlecloth and girth, a single-plumed top-knots, bridles, high manes treated as a solid mass in two tiers, and tasselled tails. British Museum.
