Evening sunlight on two people walking across McGee meadow in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA
McGee Meadow was formed as a small lake caused by glacial erosion during the Ice Age. Over thousands of years this became filled with decaying plant material to form a bog and eventually the existing wet meadow. In turn the meadow will eventually be encroached upon by the surrounding trees and become part of the forest. It provides a habitat for deer, moose, elk, muskrat, ducks, geese, reptiles and amphibians.
