His widowwas left in extreme poverty with fivelittle children, three boys and twogirls. Thomas, the youngest of theboys, was four years of age at hisfathers death. This Thomas wasthe father of Abraham Lincoln, thePresident of the United Stateswhose name must henceforth forever be enrolledwith the most prominent in the annals of our course no record has been kept of the lifeof one so lowly as Thomas Lincoln.
