Rottenrow Garden, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow
This was the site of the old Royal Maternity Hospital, generally known as Rottenrow Maternity Hospital after the street it was on - Rottenrow. The hospital opened on this site in 1880 and closed in 2001. Demolition began in 2002 and the garden opened in 2004. There is a sculpture of a giant safety pin in the gardens which commemorate its maternity hospital history.
