The curtains between each bastion facetherefore north-east and north-west, south-east and south-west. The north-east and south-west curtains are eachtwo hundred and thirty feet in length. The north-westand south-east curtains are five feet shorter. In thesouth-east curtain is the gatewa}, fifteen feet wide, facingthe town.
