Steart Marshes on the Parrett Estuary, Somerset, UK. This wetland wildlife reserve has been created by managed retreat. This is where a section of sea defences is deliberately breached to allow the sea to reflood former areas of salt marsh that were reclaimed in the past. Climate change induced sea level rise is making this more and more common as a defence strategy. Hinckley point nuclear power stations are in the background.
