The Stone on which stands the castle of pumps, dark green, so as to appear almost black (iron and magnesium), is a coil of volcanic submarine (ophiolite) and crossed inside a crack or fault that has given rise to a cave about thirty feet in length. Pompeano part of Serramazzoni only since 1860, before that date, its history is to be found in the countryside of the Gombola whose Gentlemen, of Lombard origin, were one of the most powerful families of the mountain Modena. In 1416, the Gombola lost by the estate in favor of Cesi, who held it until the arrival of the French armies of Napoleon in 1796. The castle is accessible only by climbing a stairway outside the walls. Inside the walls you see an old square tower, the palace, which was inhabited by the Marquis Ferdinand Cesi heats up to 1885, the tower was completed in 1886, and finally the "revived" church dedicated to St. Geminiano
