Exploration in Brazil. 19th-century artwork of French explorer Jules Crevaux (1847–1882) leading an expedition to find the source of the Oyapock River (in background) on the border between Brazil and French Guiana. This river rises in the Tumuk Humak Mountains and flows 370 kilometres to the Atlantic. Crevaux journeyed in this area in 1878.
