A field of empty chairs in the footprint of the former Murrah Federal Building represent those killed when a bomb destroyed it on April 19,1995 at 9:02 am. There is a chair for each person killed with smaller chairs representing the children. Timothy McVeigh detonated a truck bomb in front of the 9-story Murrah Federal Building, killing 168 people, 19 of which were young children in the 2nd floor daycare center.
