In this year 2020, around 600 people have died or disappeared in Atlantic waters in the reactivation of the migratory route that connects the coasts of West Africa with the Canary Islands. It is the absence of alternatives that causes, among other factors, situations such as those experienced at the Arguineguín port dock, with hundreds of people living in unworthy conditions after having faced a very dangerous journey, when the priority should be to offer these people the opportunity to recover. These situations also generate a series of images that favor the spectacularization of the migratory phenomenon and its use and profitability by professionals of hatred and xenophobia.
